Toronto Police say a 42-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after being shot in the Regent Park area on Wednesday.
He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is in serious condition.
Gunfire broke out inside a second floor apartment of a Toronto Community Housing high rise at 220 Oak St. sometime around 7 a.m.
Earlier, emergency crews converged on the area at Gerrard and River streets.
Police say they are looking for a suspect, but so far no arrests have been made. Officers could be seen Wednesday on a second floor balcony, and gun-sniffing dogs were used to check the area.
