Accused bomber's widow adds 'terrorism' attorney to legal team

Boston - Katherine Russell, 24, widow of accused Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, added prominent New York criminal attorney Joshua Dratel to her defense team.
On Wednesday, her other attorney, Amato DeLuca, announced Dratel has represented terrorism suspects in federal court and military trials, including Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks, who was convicted under the Military Commissions Act.
In a written statement, DeLuca said, "Mr. Dratel's unique, specialized experience will help insure that Katie [Katherine Russell] can assist in the ongoing investigation in the most constructive way possible.”
DeLuca explained that Russell has not been charged with a crime and will have more meetings with investigators as "part of a series of meetings over many hours where she has answered questions,” reported. DeLuca's firm, which represented Russell before the recent addition, specializes in civil cases, including personal injury law.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokhar, 19, are accused of detonating bombs at the world-renowned Boston Marathon. The brothers engaged law enforcement in a shootout in which Tamerlan was killed and Dzhokhar, although seriously injured, was captured. He is now at Federal Medical Center Devens, a Massachusetts prison facility.
Officials have determined the female DNA found on a fragment of one of the pressure cooker bombs is not Russell's. They also found al-Qaida's Inspire magazine and other radical Islamist material on her computer and continue investigating whether the materials were Russell's, her late husband's or a third party's.

Reportedly, the bombs were constructed in the apartment Tamerlan shared with Russell and their 3-year-old daughter. Residue from the bombs was found on the kitchen table, bathtub and kitchen sink.
Russell has lived with her parents in North Kingston, RI, home since Tamerlan was killed but was recently spotted with her daughter at a Rhode Island restaurant having lunch with a friend. She converted to Islam before marrying Tamerlan in 2010.
Since Tamerlan's death, Russell has sought to distance herself from him. She did not claim the body, but allowed his uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, to handle all funeral arrangements. '
There were challenges with finding a funeral home to take the body, but reportedly, Graham, Putnam, and Mahoney Funeral Home provided services. Tamerlan was buried at an undisclosed location in Massachusetts.
From the beginning of the investigation, Russell has stated, through her family and attorney, she had no knowledge of the suspects' plan to bomb the iconic Boston Marathon
