Flash Back: Rob Ford Says If YouRide Bike You Are A Pain In The Ass!

Toronto Mayor: ‘Cyclists Are a Pain in the Ass’
By Matt Allyn
Toronto mayor Rob Ford doesn’t mince words, especially when it comes to cycling: “Roads are built for buses, cars, and trucks, not for people on bikes.”
A BBC News online article this week outlined the Canadian mayor’s war on bikes through a series of Ford’s own public statements. Toronto’s cyclists have always had it hard, battling long winters and strong winds from Lake Ontario. But since December 2010, they’ve also faced a mayor intent on ripping out bike lanes for more parking and car lanes.
Of course the mayor isn’t without some compassion for victims of bike-car accidents.
“My heart bleeds for them when I hear someone gets killed, but it’s their own fault at the end of the day,” Ford said.
