Toronto Boy Age 16, charged after handgun and cocaine found at high school

CP24 - A 16-year-old boy faces a number of charges after allegedly bringing a handgun to a downtown high school Tuesday.
Police were called to St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School, located at 66 Dufferin Park Ave., for a report that a handgun had been recovered shortly before 2 p.m.
The firearm was discovered after an unattended backpack was turned over to a school staff member shortly before 1 p.m., Toronto Catholic District School Board spokesperson John Yan said.
The teen faces seven charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and possession of cocaine.
The boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
