(WTSP Flordia) - Bradenton, Florida -- A local coffee shop is brewing more than just caffeine and the baristas are wearing something a different than your typical apron. Andneighbors aren't happy about it.
Along U.S. 41 in Bradenton, the woman holding the sign may look like she missed her exit to the beach, but she's right where she belongs.
"We are a coffee shop drive-thru with a twist. We have are girls in bikinis or costume lingerie," says Michelle Cooper, Cups O' Joy co-owner.
There's no aprons at Cups O' Joy. The bikini baristas will brew your coffee anyway you want it.
"They're very comfortable and it takes a lot of courage and confidence to do this, too."
While the bikinis are definitely brewing business, it's also brewing some controversy.
"This does not shine a good light on Bradenton. We don't need this here," says Stacy Mile, Bradenton resident.
"They don't think a woman should stand out there with their bikinis on," says Cooper.
But just like the coffee, whether it's regular or decaf -- some people may prefer their baristas regular or in this case a little de-dressed.
"You know people are frumpin' around in the morning and they need something nice to look at," says Cooper.
The drive-thru is at 6295 14th St. W., in Bradenton.
