South Carolina Trooper Shooting Unarmed Man For Not Wearing Seat belt
A South Carolina state trooper was captured on dashcam video, shooting an unarmed African American man who he had pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt.
The trooper, Sean Groubert, shot Levar Jones right after he told him to go back to his vehicle and get his drivers license.
Officer Groubert was arrested Wednesday and is being charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
The dashcam video clearly shows Groubert shooting Jones outside of a convenience store in Richland County, South Carolina. The incident occurred on September 4th.
Jones, 35, reached for his license, only after Groubert told him to, then instantly began shooting and yelling “get out of the car.”
Jones who was unarmed. He was shot in the hip and can be heard in the video saying “I just got my license. You said get my license.”
