160 people crushed to death at church while celebrating the appointment of new bishop
Police launched an investigation after the roof of a church collapsed while people were celebrating the appointment of a new bishop, police in Nigeria said. Uyo police said that the incident unfolded on Saturday, at the Reigners Bible Church International. A large group of people gathered at the church to celebrate the appointment of Bishop Akan Weeks. At some point, the metal roof collapsed. Pieces of the roof fell on people in the church, causing 160 people to lose their lives. Hundreds more were injured. People are angry as they believe the construction of the church was rushed and the integrity of the building was compromised.
